Demonstrating is forbidden in today’s Italy.
It’s forbidden to make pacific demonstrations in Italy. It may be exceptionally allowed but without use of posters nor megaphones. Only with the presence. In Italy you it’s forbidden to say publicly that a group of people is treading on the basic people’s rights. You will be stopped, threatened, intimidated at the first word you say that is not a word of consent. See what happened to the guys of Naples Meetup (Beppe Grillo’s meetup group). They just tried to peacefully express their dissent in the square where last Friday Berlusconi and his government announced the end of trash emergency.
Some translations: The guys are being stopped by a Digos (riot police) official. They are not allowed to pass, though all other people are passing. They insist and after a long while and a phonecall, the officer tells them to put down their posters.
(Italian Constitution article 21 says everyone has the right to freely express their opinions with words, written words and any other way of diffusion.)
The meetup people are being followed step by step and as soon as one of them starts talking on the megaphone, the policemen get mad.
(he says - in Italy it’s forbidden to protest. The Chiaiano garbage dump will be build in the middle of a green oasis, the only green lung of Naples. They will fill it with all sorts of garbage..)
They block him, threaten him, intimidate him. They confiscate some of the cameras. Other people who assist or take pictures are being intimidated as well.
The Berlusconi’s trash program schedules the following:
- 4 highly toxic incinerators
- some garbage dumps where it is allowed to spill even toxic and dangerous types of trash.
- one of the garbage dumps will be made in Chiaiano, a green lung of Naples (just few hundreds of meters from huge residential area and hospital areas)
plus
- total censor towards whom fights to encourage ecological solutions like reuse, reduction, recycle, compost, mechanic-biologic treatment, thor, arrowbio, differentiation.
This is the way to let make huge profits to incinerators companies (multinational FIBE/Impregilo and Veolia) and to those who want to improperly get rid of toxic and industrial garbage, while residents get cancer.
There are people fighting every single day for their land in what is always more similar to a regime. DON’T LEAVE THEM ALONE.
